Bored and Horny, or: suggestions for a lazy Friday night

Postby Flumble » Sat Jan 12, 2019 12:44 am UTC

This thread is for suggestions and discussion of things you can do around the house on a rainy afternoon (or a Friday night for that matter). A thread of this kind probably exists in FaiD, but not yet in the outer regions.

Some suggestions from my side:
  • watch a film
  • play mario kart
  • chat on the xkcd forums
  • watch youtube videos
  • have an existential crisis
  • drink to forget your existential crisis
  • watch cat videos
  • go to bed early
  • clean stuff
but half of those I've already done and the other half I don't want to do.

Try your hand at a paper craft like origami or quilling.
Read the book at the bottom of the To Be Read pile.
Knit, crochet or embroider.
Don’t become a well-rounded person. Well rounded people are smooth and dull. Become a thoroughly spiky person. Grow spikes from every angle. Stick in their throats like a puffer fish.

  • draw
  • play an instrument
  • listen to music on a physical format
  • record a mixtape
  • play Tricky Truck
  • run some trains on your model railway layout
  • clean and lubricate your model locomotives
  • tidy your shelf/cupboard/storage locker/toolbox
  • make electronic circuits
  • design electronic circuits
  • stare blankly at anything
Right, that's all I could come up with now.

Watch Julia Child videos on YouTube.

Do you have access to any kind of gym at all? Physical exhaustion is a fine substitute for existential anguish, I find.

My To-Do list consists mainly of tinkering with the assorted old devices I have kicking around, and putting some of my crap on eBay. And of course I also have 276 tabs open right now and I could probably do something with those.

Have you backed up your PC lately? That's something we could all use more of.
