High School bathroom graffiti: intellectualized

In my opinion, "Ozymandius" was one of the fails of the romantic period, especially among Shelley's writing.



I gots to say, however, were to graffiti a poem, it would have to be Keats's "Ode to a Nightingale". Especially in parts.

I was bored one day in math class, so I wrote fragments of "Burial of The Dead" (which is part of 'The Wastelands') on my desk. Two monts later, it's still there, and a couple of comments have been added to it. It 's only written in pencil, too! For me, exciting. Graffiti usually never stays for more than a week at my school. x) For the most part, the bathrooms in my school are boring, but occasionally someone will put down a pro-weed-smoking poem.

This website has a bunch of letters that anyone can move around to spell stuff. It always breaks down to the same kind of unintellectual profanity that appears in bathroom graffiti. I love to go on and write out quotes like "Religion is the opium of the masses" or "Cogito ergo sum" just to screw with people.

Aww man, i'm currently doing work experience in the physics dept. of my local uni, helping out with particle physicsy stuff (my supervisor is on the ATLAS staff), i am SO writing that somewhere on monday

I love a good biting reply to whatever has already been written.
In the toilets at my high school someone had written something white-pride-ish (totally forgettable) and underneath someone had printed, very neatly, "What exactly is it you feel your race has to be proud of? Genocide? Sitcoms?"

And, at uni:
"Roennfeldt has a big dong, but how can he see it over his fat gut?"
"With an array of mirrors and pulleys."

And once, stuck to the toilet dispenser: "Arts degrees, please take one."

That sort of thing really makes my day.

My school doesn't have any witty and/or intelligent graffiti. Although in the girls' bathrooms there's a sign saying 'please use the sanitary bins provided' and someone's written underneath: 'or we will make tampon-tea and drink it'. It always makes me giggle. But I'm strange.

Also in the girls' bathrooms there were printed A4 sheets of really bad lightbulb jokes and one was 'how many women does it take to change a lightbulb? None, it's a man's job'. Who writes that in a girls' bathroom?

Also, kellsbells, I am now inspired to draw xkcd characters around my school. I wonder if anyone would recognise them.

You can always go with a WASTE/Trystero muted posthorn from The Crying Of Lot 49, if you want something intellectual that the average person most definitely won't get. I plan on putting that all over my school, having read that book this summer. Pynchon is brilliant

Our school had a sign posted in every stall, on the back of the door, instructing high school students on proper hand-washing technique and at the bottom in much smaller print it said, "Please do not write on this sign." To me, that always seemed to be simply begging for someone to do just that.

In one stall, sharpied in the bottom-right corner of the sign was, "Hey, don't write on this," with an arrow pointing to the printed warning.
And I just had to write, "Ok, we won't."

A friend of mine recognized my (cursive) handwriting and told me I was a goon. : )

I just remembered: one of the colleges in the town I live in has a dorm in which the bathrooms are white tile, floor to ceiling. I heard from a tour guide that the bathrooms are really, depressingly austere at the start of the year, but throughout the year, people do art in dry-erase markers, and write blogs and whatnot. I'm pretty excited to have an overnight visit and check this out, preferably with a camera.

For any Brits I highly recommend the Oxford English Faculty girls bathrooms.
My personal favourite is where someone has written "I wish I was black" and someone else has crossed out the 'was' and written 'were' above it.

Well the only writing in my middle school bathroom was some sex story, written in 2 parts, and quite a few comments sayingm that they liked the story, others that were flaming the guy, and others just rambling, it was like a comment section on a website.

Our uni library has the best proportion of witty to crude graffiti I've managed to find so far. Wish I could remember it. My flatmate said that he had an ongoing back-and-forth with some unknown person in the history department, which is pretty cool. Will start writing this stuff in a note book next semester.

I did see a pretty good one on a desk in a classroom. Someone had drawn a 3D button with 'To cure boredom, firmly apply forehead'.

There's one stall in one of my school bathrooms in which about 15 people have started their own version of Post Secret. I'd say it's more along the lines of a support group than malicious-natured graffiti.

Ours has the "wall of secrets". The only one I can read is somebody coming out of the closet to everybody in the stall.

My HS should have some. I think there is one black hat girl on the theater fly-space railing... 70 feet up and another on the bottom of the 3rd stair of the first crossing on the catwalks above the theater and black hat man on the opposite stair on the other crossing reaching for BHG, and one on the wall behind the ladder leading up to the railing crawling up a drawn ladder, all with xkcd scrawled underneath them. Some one wrote a response, it read "So now I get it. You light guys get really bored don't you." It made my week.

You could write some kind of paper on the human minds about the stuff in the toilets at UQ.

There's the ever popular pi train. people adding 20 or so didgits of pi onto the train whenever they're inclined.

There's the constant degredation of every degree other than something math based.

There's the unyielding anti asian remarks.

My favorite would have to be the lines of equations. nothing's greater than reading a tonne of numbers, reaching the QED and then washing your hands.

In one of my uni toilets I was really encouraged by one peice of graffiti I saw, it was the kind that gives you back some faith in humanity. In amongst the usual creepy invitations to gay sex (why would you do it in the toilet anyway?) at the back of the cubicle there is a large tract of text written in block capitals in permanant marker which reads:

"There is no land beyond the law
Where tyrants rule with unckeck'd power
'Tis but a dream from which to wake
And face their terrifying hour"

A quick google search reveals that to be the calling card of a little known DC Comics superhero called The Sandman.

...It seems someone has a secret identity at my uni.

Best bathroom graffiti I ever saw was at my university.

There were ads in the stalls for some weird pharmaceutical company, you know the kind where you have no idea what they are advertising?

Someone had covered the company logo with an Umbrella Corp. logo. I thought it was great--not sure whether other people even noticed.
