That's dumb, sorry arbiteroftruth. Luckily our TV has an app to control it as well, so even if there's an issue with the remote, I can still do everything (including typing!!) from my phone.

Problem resolved. It turns out I still had the original remote buried in a box of cables in an obscure corner of the house. So my tv is all set up now. Still though, no excuse for leaving the most important key off of the on screen keyboard.

Definitely. Glad that worked out. I have mild anxiety when I first see a TV with no buttons on screen, but the app is a decent enough replacement. The likelihood of both the app and the remote to be borked is low.

Now that I think about it, the app probably only works if the TV is connected to wifi - after all I don't have an IR projector in my phone.

Well, no, but it does at least tell me why not:
Blu-ray error:
This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///E:/'. Check the log for details.

TIL that the latest version of VLC is being downloaded more than 3 times per second.
Oh, Willie McBride, it was all done in vain.

My sister has a friend over and they're in the kitchen chatting while my sister has dinner. The loud conversation is annoying as hell, but I don't want to shut the door or turn the music up, because it feels kind of passive-aggressive.

Mostly close the door and turn the music up a little? They're noisy. You have the right to defend yourself, I say.

It's ok to do that, but tell them what you're doing and why, in a neutral (non-accusing) manner. They should understand.

My sister would've probably understood if I just closed the door, since we both often do that while the other is cooking something. I don't really know why I was so self-conscious about it, but they've left a couple hours ago anyway.

Quick question, Windows: how many times are you going to tell me Dolby Digial Audio is no longer available? I got it the first time, giving me three notifications every time I turn the computer on is not necessary.

Every Windows 10 update is pushing me closer to wiping the damn thing and installing Linux instead.

Ugh Microsoft, we need to have a word about cross-references in Word. Specifically equations. Nobody wants to reference an equation by inserting the entire equation along with the number, so I'd be tremendously grateful if you'd let me insert just the number. Especially since you provide me with a plethora of other useless things to insert.

I mean this wouldn't bother me so much if Word didn't "helpfully" refresh all cross-references before saving to pdf, because apparently fuck fusional or agglutinating languages.
