In my mind, addams, I hear Christopher Walken, John Malkovich and William Shatner together reading your post to me. Strangely it remains quite soothing.

I think Quicksilver(the person who made this tread, for those of you, if any, who didn't notice that already) got beat to the punch of making a thread for this comic by 1 minute. I would request that someone who can do so fix the redundancy issue, but there isn't a section on how to do that in that in the FAQ.

I am a programmer of the Old Code. I would have paid dearly for a manual that told me I was supposed to go sit by a lake when I got 0C4 or 0C5.

“I Was Wondering About This Error Message,” I said

Beneath my stare began to blur
10,000 lines of print.
Buried alive by 0C5
Which gave not clue nor hint.

Up from my chair, I neard the lair
Branded “Consultants’ Room.
With puzzled gaze I paraphrased
My mind’s perplexing gloom.

“That bilious sty of wire,” said I,
“Has dumped its DUMP on me.
I cannot guess where in that mess
I’ll find the missing key.”

“The clues are everywhere,” he said.
And I began to think
Of : “Water, water everywhere
But not a drop to drink.”

“Aha!” said he, “Your DCB
Has lost BUFL.
MSHI is far to high
And BLKSIZE looks not well.”

“BLDL in this case will
Cause 0C5 or 4.
To BSP hex ‘503’
Will backspace low cost store.”

“You FREEMAIN twice and GETMAIN once’
This cannot be advised.
And all of this, I’m positive
Has caused your 0C5.”

My jaw had slackened to my knees;
A fly flew in my mouth.
I gathered up my SYSUDUMP
And crawled off in a slouch.

Back to my desk; I placed to rest
My chin upon my hand.
My weary eyes seemed quite surprised
To gaze on print again.

Beneath my stare began to blur
10,000 lines of print.
Buried alive by 0C5
Which gave not clue nor hint.

Well, either the guy was genius enough not to use copy-and-paste, or Randall changed the alt-text (on stealth mode, of course) after the thread was created. My money is on the latter....

Well in the alternate reality thread started by quicksilver a minute after this one the alt text is listed as
Quicksilver wrote:Alt text:"It has a section on motherboard beep codes that lists, for each beep pattern, a song that syncs up well with it."

so if he did change it was done within less than a minute after Al-pocalypse started this thread...you are clever enough to draw your own conclusions I am sure.

Oh and of course, and a smilie shaped emoticon for this

I may be crazy, but I have to ask if anyone noticed this.

When I scroll up/down with the lake on screen, the gradients seem to "scroll" with it, making the difference between them seem more or less evident relative to how quickly/what direction I scroll. It's tripping me out. Look closely at the difference in color on the lake, then scroll up or down and look for a slight change.

What you don't know is that in Christopher Walken's mind, addams is the one delivering his lines.

O.O
Wow. This is absolutely amazing. I love the small details that went into designing the water and the lily pads just beneath the surface. This is perfect for the 10000000000th comic. Thank you, Randall!

That book ... it wouldn't be The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy by any chance? That's never been wrong yet either.

I so want a copy of that bo‌ok. Shame we don't get or see error codes that often anymore.

The first time I read the text I thought it sa‍id:
"It ha‌s a section on mothership beep codes that lists, for each beep pattern, a song that syncs up we‌ll with it."
I'‌m thinking "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

I particularly liked that the lake included submerged lily pads.

I did notice it was 2^10, I thought it was fitting.

Hi. Has anyone notices that this picture is an aerial shot as though you are hovering above the lake? At first I thought that Randall had got the perspective a bit wrong on the waterlillies, but actually it's genius.
