Bash, anyone? If you figure that every funny post was done by one/two people, you'd have a sizeable readership that communicates indirectly.

And the Internet Oracle. All those quote sites for stupid, funny goodness.

I *really* wish DNA had a small island somewhere near wikipedia, because h2g2 actually is the part of the internet I am from, since age 13, developed my writing skills, learned basic html, was introduced to my first internet community, grew to learn roleplaying and learned to know at least one really great friend there. But damn the bbc, it just isn't big enough, even though from what I hear, it's grown to enormous sizes these days.

Shouldn't Newgrounds be on there somewhere? Like, an undersea fortress off the coast of Soviet Russia? I come originally from an animation community (for the making, and not the obsessing over, thereof).

Maybe not, I suppose the actual community is quite small.

The print version of the online communities map seems to be missing a label. This label:
Image

which is illegible in the online version of the map does not appear in the print version. Every other label seems to show up (and more besides!)

Does anyone know what it says?

Please explain faggotry

Well, you see, when two men of the appropriate persuasion love each other very much, or just kindof like each other, or maybe just think they're hot, or maybe one of them is just really drunk and horny, they perform a special dance where one man *goes into* the other man and it feels really good for the both of them. Or maybe just one. Sometimes neither of them. You know how it goes. Sometimes, the man in back even reaches around to rub the man in front, which is really polite of him. He's a stand-up guy, him. And when the dance is over, sometimes they exchange a special kind of drink from their man-parts. And altogether, that's sometimes called 'Faggotry'. But it's rude to say in public. When you're outside of the house, you should really call it "man-love" or maybe just not talk about it at all. It's not really appropriate conversation.

Making 4chan small and insignificant has absolutely fuckall to do with that, though, and is just kindof funny. Which really makes your post rude and incoherent, more than anything.

I guess what I'm saying is: Fuck off.

Belial's explanation is quite thorough, but perhaps I should add a colloquial or "slang" definition. Occasionally, mild homophobes will use this this term to mean "Something worthless, irritating, or foolish." Such as your post. And you.

Overlays

Postby owenja » Thu May 31, 2007 11:55 pm UTC

Such a fantastic comic.

Now, for the artists out there, I would suggest overlays a la SimCity. So far, potential views I've come up with are ad density, wealth concentration, and age (which could possibly be done as a contour map). I've also rejected population density (since that would be uniform the way the map was designed).

Pff. Whenever 4chan gets riled up, all you have to do is bring down fchan and the furries will occupy them for a while. They sure love their furries.

I finally got my poster.

I ordered it right away, but had it shipped to my old address.

Upon receiving it, it was so curled that it was vaguely reminescent of a pirate map.

I have since decided it is best kept in the cardboard tube to preserve this quality.

I have also decided to run a Pirates of the Blogipeligo campaign.

Oh me yarm I registered here just to say how absolutely amazing this is. Not saying I wont stick around for more though. Oh, but I agree with whoever posted a while back about how GameFAQS is a fairly large community that needs an island, at least. And possibly LUELinks, but I'm not sure of their exact size.

Oh, and, lol at how your handling the message from /b/-although, you do realize, they could probably destroy xkcd?

While I doubt they could bring down xkcd (I hear our server is built to withstand very high volumes), it wouldn't surprise me if they could overwhelm our moderating staff. Even if they're all on, it would probably be 3-10 /b/tards per mod for a decent raid.

Of course, the lulz to be won would be minimal at best. It's not like our pools are full of AIDS.

If at any point we end up with a bunch of SA Goons or /b/tards or any similar group of ass-clowns descending on our forum, it is a simple thing to delete a few accounts, and then switch registration-validation to manual.

It's always good to choke these things off as early as possible.

(I can't let this go by.) If you take every funny post from bash and figure about 2 people were involved in each, you'd have about 20.

You may have a better chance of getting numbers if you take every racist joke.

You'll want to email Randall about that. The "About" page on the main comic index should have the address.

I'm wondering about /b/'s location on the map. My friends and I have two theories:

1) It's the small, "B" shaped island in the east, or

II) It's the (unpictured) giant network of winding tunnels extending from 4chan island to all parts of all other communities, and (some say) into the fabled "real world".

The porn is all floating about in the ocean, tied to buoys, floating in Ziploc bags, or being distributed by guys on boats. There's also a significant amount of it floating around all the land masses.

Also, what is this 4chan you all speak of?

i saw runescape, and i thought it wasnt large enough for the map, but i guess 10 million (accounts, not people) are there, whereas, (i base my figures on the introduction thread) to be less than a million on xkcd.
it does need a "you are here"
also, it would be funny if there was a portion of runescape that said "moparscape rebellion"
Or something to that effect. Hell, I don't know.
