Alt Text: It was actually canceled because they just noticed he's been naked under that coat the whole time. There's a petition on Facebook to get Fox to un-cancel it, and one on Livejournal to get him to take off the coat.

The final chapter in the latest great "River Tam beats up everyone" epic. And she beat up someone else, so that makes it multiple 'people', hence I am truly satisfied.

Bloody fox taking away our 5th row of panels ;_;

Also, I bet you there will be a livejournal poll popping up around now, if there isn't one already...

Epic finish. Clearly, it's up to fanfic writers to recreate those last few panels.

Wait...who the hell said "And the winner is..."?

I'm assuming Jewel said "Summer Glau?", because she's terrestrial. Apparently Cory Doctorow was narrating the race from his balloon.

Since when is Fox against ill-explained violence? They would love that final battle, especially if it contained poorly rationalized justifications of torture.

Fox is totally going to be confused by this. "Wait...we didn't cancel anything this time?! Why are they complaining?!"

Most likely Doctorow was narrating the race. And Fox's executives should be fired and ground into a fine, pink powder. I'm thinking Torgo's Executive Powder, but there are many good brands out there that can do the job.

What? Only four rows today?

Day 1 had 1 row. Day 2 had 2 rows. Day 3 had 3 rows. Day 4 had 4 rows. Today you ended the 4th row on the cancellation notice, thereby preventing the pattern from finishing!

Consider this my official signing to the petition to get today's fifth row!

I had to sit through an entire week of horribly contrived references of Randall's Fireflay Fantasy Fanfic for this to be the ending? Fitting, given the quality of the rest of the series... but seriously... fuck that shit.

I hope this isn't the last of the race series. I want to see an epilogue where River wears her puffy dress.

But it only saved it briefly. We never got to see the original ending to the last episode, where Sam leaped far into the future and Al had to become a leaper as well to find him: http://www.sethargabright.com/qleap/mialtend.htm

Continuity bug?
Summer Glau does not appear to be holding the controller after she steals the board from Fillion.
Maybe she can control it with her brain.

Wasn't that Kaylee?

Highly enjoyable few days for xkcd. <3 I feel we suffered from the deficiency of Jayne, though. And Simon. Both would have been especially appreciated.

I can't believe nobody caught this yet, but when River beats the crap out of Nathan, he drops the remote, and then River rides on without it... Not only can she kill you with her brain, but she can ride an electric skateboard without the remote!

edit. Wow, I totally did not see Bolson's post right on top of mine...

You mean Jewel, and I don't think so. It's been a while since I've watched Fire Fly, but the puffy dress was from the episode where River was at that ball.

Okay, first, THIS SERIES WAS AWESOME! You people who dislike it...why are you even reading xkcd if you haven't seen or don't like Firefly or Serenity? (No, don't answer that, but seriously, Firefly is awesome.) I even showed this to my mom, who has seen most of Firefly and Serenity, and she loved it.

And comment, I certainly hope most people already realized this but some comments indicate otherwise: the fanboy there is RANDALL. Duh.

Also...am I the only one who saw the first comic in the series and had the immediate thought that Randall is attempting to invoke the "life imitates xkcd" rule to his benefit? :)
There's no such thing as a funny sig.

Perhaps you were thinking of the time when River does some dancing in a red twirly outfit. The setting I recall there was rather folksy dancing in a clearing outside a small town on dirt or an open air platform with a few live musicians and a bunch of regular folk dancing around a big circle. She always did like to dance.

I'm answering anyway. So there. :)

Merely referencing something does not make a comic good. I love Serenity and Firefly. There's some good strips with references, including 311 and 561.
I also like pencils, but that doesn't mean if a strip is drawn concerning pencils that it will automatically be good.

Also, 5 strips about Mr. Fillion, and no mention of that horrible flop, Drive, or the actually pretty good, currently running Castle? There's some serious comic material there.

hmm i'm definately joining that LJ group.. What could be better that more captain tightpants in no pants??
anyway even if the final battle was cancelled i'm sure, due to enormous pressure from fans, Randal will create a graphic novel to complete the saga.

I laughed so hard at the end. And as with firefly, I was left with so many unanswered questions...
Who was commentating the race?
Who will win the epic showdown?
Will the bug Summer swallowed have long term health effects?
Starwars MMORPG
Great fun, check it out!

If I would ever touch Facebook with a ten foot pole, I would totally be joining that petition. Not even a FireFly fan, but like many others in here, when Randall tells you to do something, I obey.

Yeeeeees, master...must free the velociraptors...

For the comic itself, this was an epic end to an otherwise bland comic week. Summer Glau kicking the ass out of Nathan Fillion was pure epic, and a nice twist on the end of the race. It seems like a perfect way to end the comic in my eyes. And this still comes from a guy who is not a fan of Firefly, Serenity, Sarah Connor Chronicles or anything of the likes, haven't ever seen them, and don't intend to (because I'm just not into Sci Fi).

TL;DR; Comic 1=Epic, Comic 5=Epic, Comic 2-4=Suck.
