"The Race: Part 3" Discussion

Alt Text: No, the best things about The Sarah Connor Chronicles were: (1) watching Sarah and Cameron try to pass for normal, and (2) Cameron throwing people and things through walls. Everything else was pretty secondary.

I like where this is going.

Never seen Firefly, and looking for context for the "No.", I saw this on her wikipedia page:
Morena also acted in an unaired pilot episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, playing Carmen, a male-to-female transsexual.
Odds that that was what he was about to say?

I dont remember River beating up that many things in Firefly itself, though it has been a while since I last watched the show (two months or so, sooo long... withdrawal symptoms). As I recal that was mostly limited to Serenity. Stabbings with knives and holding people at gunpoint dont count...

Im pretty sure Summer is looking at the poll results on whether or not she should become a part of the floor, or further startle the newcomer... apparently the plurality said that floor was the better idea...

Summer is looking at xkcd guy's zeppelin, where she is now using the radio to talk through a speaker in the floor.

(You'll only understand if you also understand why she wasn't part of the ship, she was in his ship!)

Does he not just use vectors or are they just scanned still? I figured he'd draw them then use Illustrator to trace them with live trace making them nice and smooth and such.

Going to throw in my vote with these two. This entire series is really disappointing. Just waiting it out to the end, I guess. There are still, thankfully, other webcomics out there for which the "nerd" factor still outweighs bland pop culture references.

Uh, how exactly? With horrifyingly bad resolution on that unnecessarily gigantic image?

Everyone take a look at panel 3 again. LOOK AT IT. It's a gorram stick figure and yet looks EXACTLY like Summer Glau. wtf.

'Cause they're outside now. Wearing sunglasses outside isn't going to make you look cool and mysterious like it does inside, it's just going to make you look like you're in the sun and want to protect your eyes.

Summer Glau was 72% of the reason I watched Sarah Connor Chronicles in the first season. But by the end of the second season I must say the whole show got so amazing that she was down to something like 23%.

If you haven't seen Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles yet you should rectify that immediately. First season is average television faire (but with Summer Glau!), but it takes an incredibly deep an interesting turn throughout the second season. The show's in serious danger of cancellation. Only massive hulu/fox.com viewings and DVD pre-orders within the next week or so can save it.

I, for one, loved day 2 of this series. This was ok, made tolerable only by the appearance of Summer Glau. I'm going to be quite upset of this turns out to be a "oh, I was having a dream" sequence.

Also, yes, SCC is freaking amazing. Stupid Fox, don't go canceling good shows when you have crappy sitcoms and whatnot to ax first!

So, the real question is: how much of this do y'all think is true?

I think about 2% - the two percent about Nathan Fillion owning an electric skateboard and Morena Baccarin not being a whore *ahem* companion.

Ah, but how much do we wish were true?

I for one am enjoying this series - not as epic as, say, 1337, but a good source of amusement.

I thought the best part of SCC was Summer Glau in various revealing outfits - wow.
I found the "watch them try to pretend to be normal" thing a bit irritating since the writers backtracked on it - in the pilot Cameron does a brilliant job of acting human, then apparently forgets how for the rest of the show. Seems to me that there are a lot of harder problems than mimicking social interaction in building a killer robot.
Okay, and also Cameron throwing people through walls. It'll do until we get "River Tam Beats Up Everyone" ;-)

I'll feel sorry for the actors when SCC gets axed, because I think they all did a great job with what they were given, but I think the writers could have done much better. So I won't claim that it'd be a Firefly level of injustice to cancel it, but it's still better than most of the crap on TV.

I plead guilty.

The charges: not having watched firefly/serenity till this comic came up.

Sentence: as we speak full season is being downloaded, and serenity (movie) was very good. Question, since I'm not done dl'ing just yet... would you guys say the show was better or the movie better?

The guy who played Wash in Firefly is in Dollhouse now, and he’s already funny. I had to laugh so hard at his line about this being like one of those buddy cop movies, “where you’re the hard-nosed FBI agent and I’m the guy who really hates buddy cop movies…”
