Re: Baker Street Irregulars Dethy² - Day 5
Sorry, you're right mike. My mistake.
i don't know who to investigate. there's still that infinitesimal chance I could be insane (for that to be the case dim would have to be scum). So, I guess that being the case I'll investigate dimochka unless someone has a better idea?

If emlightened flips scum, only adnapemit and Madge can be the last scum.
Adnapemit must be naive - town results on Diemo and Sabrar rule out insane, town on emlightened rules out sane, town results rule out paranoid.
Mikemk must be naive - town on Snark rules out sane, town on jimbob rules out insane, town rules out paranoid.
Esthr must be naive - town on emlightened rules out sane, town on dimochka and I rules out insane, town rules out naive.
Esthr can't be scum in any case, like myself. Mikemk can only be scum with jimbob and dimochka. Thus if emlightened flips scum we lynch Snark and adnapemit.
Does anyone disagree? I got scum on adnapemit, by the by. Since adnapemit and Madge cannot be co-aligned, I'm paranoid. Since Madge got scum on me and Snark, she's paranoid. We don't really need any further investigations.

Re: Baker Street Irregulars Dethy² - Day 6
Finally, I thought, this case is coming to an end. Thanks to the vigilance of the Irregulars, Fred Porlock was safely behind bars. And yet the garrotter was still on the loose. Natty Smythe, an unfortunate lad with a heart of gold, whose father had been transported to Australia, and to my mind unjustly, fell victim to his wrath. But I could feel it in my bones, the boys would crack this case before Mr. Holmes returned.
Snark was Fred Porlock, Member of Moriarty's Gang.
Carlington was a member of the Baker Street Irregulars.
5 players remain, 3 to lynch. I'm not setting a deadline, as I suspect this will go quickly.

Not willing to trust dim out of the gate (sorry dim). Let me think about it.
I got scum on Dim so my infinitesimal chance of being insane is not true, making me paranoid (scum results on snark and carlington both proves this in a less convoluted manner).
Carlington got scum on me, dim, and timepanda, so that pretty conclusively proves that he's paranoid since he flipped town and at least one of us should be scum given dim's claim.
I know I'm paranoid because of my results, so that takes the two paranoid cops out of the running FMPoV; town!Sabrar is the only other candidate for paranoia.
Mikemk is proven town by jimbob, and is naive due to town results on jimbob and snark.
timepanda is claiming naive; with mikemk proven naive by a cop, esthr is the only other naivite candidate; esthr could be sane, though. If esthr is sane, then dim and timepanda are both town, making me the last scum (impossible fmpov).
I'm just going to quickly check whether everything makes sense with scum!Madge:
Sabrar and Carlington are paranoid.
Jimbob and Dim are insane.
Diemo and Esthr are sane.
timepanda and mike are naive.
---> that means Dim is town, who is lying about timepanda, which can't be the case
~~~~~~~
DURRR I am overthinking everything. Either Dim is telling the truth and timepanda is scum, or Dim is lying and is the only scum left.
So, I will look at the two cases:
scum!Dim:
Diemo and Esthr are sane: esthr says timepanda and dim are both town, contradiction already
Jim and Sabrar are insane: ok
town!Dim:
mike and esthr are naive
carlington and madge are paranoid
jim and dim are insane, therefore timepanda is scum
sabrar and diemo are sane, therefore timepanda is scum (Sabrar's D1 result).
Yeah............ it seems like a pretty open-and-shut case that I totally didn't need to spend like 15 minutes picking over.
Re: Baker Street Irregulars Dethy² - Game Over
Mere minutes after apprehending Fred Porlock, the investigators turned on a third figure, whom they were certain was of a nefarious bent. Unsurprisingly, after they had called me to the scene, he was quickly shown to be Neville Parker, the third member of Moriarty's gang. As the four remaining Irregulars congratulated each other for their success, a familiar man stepped out of the shadows. "I have to say that congratulations are in order. Despite great danger to yourselves, you have kept cool heads and applied my methods to ferret out some of the most dangerous criminals London has known."
"Mr. Holmes," I replied, "how did you know about this gathering? You had travelled to Moldavia to help the Royal Family."
"How indeed. Why, the answer is elementary, my dear Watson…"
adnapemit was the last scum. Congratulations to the Baker Street Irregulars!
The setup was probably too favorable to town (I stole it from mafiascum) — maybe the twelfth should have been a random cop, which would have injected a good deal more uncertainty. Scum did a really good job, though — Suzaku was a sane cop, Sabrar the deputy who took over that role. All of the victims up to the last night had a useful investigation. I kind of suspect that adnapemit was just trying to end this quicker — there was a small chance for scum, maybe, if they had killed dimochka, but it was all but certain that town had won by that point.
I hope you all enjoyed the game.
As far as I know, we would have secured a win if jimbob had investigated me instead of Snark. I would be sacrificed, and we would have been able to NK jimbob and dimochka before both adnape and Snark got copped by one of them.
Still, I enjoyed it. Good game, and thanks mpolo.
I enjoyed it, but there was a little too much certainty for me by d4. it didn't feel like scumhunting as much as scenario analysis. not sure how it couldve been better. we picked random targets for 2-3 days and yet still figured out almost every role...
It was a simple .xlsx file, I assumed you would be able to download it and open with Excel (after which the instructions would have told you what to do). I usually don't share files publicly so it is entirely possible that I messed up somehow.
Well, Excel is expensive, I don't have it. Also, I think Google drive may have altered it for Google Docs, and messed up the formulas so it doesn't work in either.
I use OpenOffice. (I say use... I've probably used it about four times this year. I've been editing text documents in Notepad, until I downloaded LyX this month.)
Sabrar, I think the main problem for me was that there wasn't a giant flashing textbox saying download me!
I created my own little matrix on google docs.
I don't think the lack of scumhunting was a bug, it was more of a feature - that's what I like about dethy, that it in principle can be determined by logic alone.
Dim - you probably found it 'boring' because you knew your sanity and you knew you were useful. As you can see from my final post I was frantically/excitedly trying to confirm the logic of everything right to the end.
That's probably exactly what it is. But I guess putting myself in scum's shoes, it kinda sucks when you go from having 3 members of the team to having two immediately revealed and the 3rd pointed out with 50% certainty.
