Shamelss self promoting. Your Blogs and websites.

Postby Vaskafdt » Sun May 15, 2011 12:02 am UTC

Hello, a while back I have discovered a tool called StumbleUpon. apparently it's quite popular. anyway after wasting countless hours just stumbling and discovering stuff over the web, i grew tired of it and left it be for a long time.
Until recently when I decided to start a blog and decided a good way of getting it it out there is by clicking the I like it button. it got me some views..

anyway as I understand it once your site has a few "likes" it gets quite a bit of traffic. so here are my thoughts:

1. if you have a webpage you would like to promote, post it here.
2. then go through a few posts.. and click stumble on them. (of course you will probably discover a few cool sites in the process.. at least from what I observed from the links in this subforum so far) also digg it.
3. if you have any idea for other services of this kind post them.

anyway, I will like any link posted here (unless it has racism, or anything really really horrible) on stumble, digg, and whatever you guys come up with. tho if I will not do it for webpages not submitted to it first.. don't be lazy and submit it yourself.

also if this picks up, you can make it easier for others to do so, by adding a social widget on your page.

from what I observed just a few clicks of these social sites came make the difference between 10-20 views and 1000-2000 views.

this seemed like an appropriate place to post this. tell me what you guys think.

(P.S.) I know there is already a your art links topic.. but this is a topic for all kinds of links. blogs, websites.. not just art.

I like this idea, it seems a good way to promote better sites.

You have been StumbleUpon-ed

My blog is http://blog.nvsounds.com Each post has a StumbleUpon button at the bottom, but submitting the whole site is great too.

I added a few of your posts to stumble, and the main link. they appeared un-submitted to me. if you didn't submit them.. you should go now and like them all.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand. We post our sites and then go to StumleUpon to hit "like" under each other's blogs?

I stumbled both the previous posters - nice blogs guys!

My physics blog is still finding its direction - and its struggling to do that without any readers! A stumble would be much appreciated.

If you also feel like stumbling some of my physics articles on my hubpages, that would be awesome: http://hubpages.com/profile/topquark

Thanks.

I added my webcomic, Frosted Bacon and added you guys.

Warning though, frostedbacon.com has some really dark humor and isn't really suited for kids.

If you would like to add StumbleUpon button in a normal html webpages, just add the following code in your webpage.

Code: Select all

<script language=JavaScript>
document.write ('<a href="');
document.write('http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url='+document.URL+'&title='+document.title.replace(/ /g,'+')+'">');
document.write ('<img border=0 src=/images/su_micro.gif></a>');
</script>

and save this image Image in /images

gonna stumble you in a sec.

Hey y'all. I make a webcomic whenever I feel like it at http://exclusiveblend.wordpress.com. They are mostly bad puns illustrated. A few are more nerdy, and worthy of this forum, like this one: http://exclusiveblend.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/a-nerd-proposal/ Go check it out!

Sorry for the delay. Your comic is up there now,http://www.comicmath.com/comics.html

The site is new (about a month old) so I've been still developing traffic, but its been increasing slowly but steadily. I've come up with the new attitude that I will personally invite 10 people a day to visit the site. If I can give 10 people a reason to come a day, others will follow (I hope). One thing that is looking good is that I'm starting to see some organic hits.

I'm working on having a complete listing of every Calvin and Hobbes and Peanuts comic ever about math up there. I just have a couple years done so far. Once I get a little more done, I'll create additional pages for each. I'm working within uclick's restrictions so I can only post a sample, but I can create a complete link directory to the rest.

No traffic from stumble upon yet so if anyone wants to try to give it a bump I'd really appreciate it. The button is on the bottom.

I'm going to throw in this link instead: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2mi4ZY/www.talesfromthemenagerie.com
Because I'm going to opt not to add a button to the site just yet, although I may in the future. Need to check in with my co-author.

Such a good idea, guys! My romance and math comic is at http://romancemath.blogspot.com. It is inspired by XKCD, thus drawn in Randall's style, and get simultaneously updated in our forum.

I've never used StumbleUpon before so give me some time to get used to it.

I have a new website at http://www.hexifact.co.uk. It consists entirely of blog at the moment but I'm working on things. It's going to cover all my hardware hacking and programming projects, as well as some tutorials.

The majority of our site traffic comes from StumbleUpon. As of now they've sent over 1 million visitors to our site in less than half a year.

Referring specifically to the site in my sig.

A Doodleblog / disorganized Tumblr

Postby Orlando » Sun Jun 24, 2012 11:21 am UTC

I'd meant my Tumblr account to be a diary-comic of sorts, but it has pretty much become my replacement Hivejournal / Fasebock, so not as much arts there as I would like.

Still, one day perhaps I shall muck up the courage to put a real comic out there, and some more follows might motivate me.

--> to the nerd-cave!

Hmmm, trying to decide whether I should clean up the flat, take a nap because it's raining and rain sounds nice on sleepy ears, or make little doodles throughout the day because I just realized I have only ONE piece of personal art on that first page.

Suggestions, digital void?

EDIT: No need for double posting, also, we can put this in the "Shamelss self promoting. Your Blogs and websites." thread as it's just a personal tumblr blog. - Jacque

If you enjoy home grown comic books, dealing with subjects like sci fi, animae, philosopy, and fine arts, you might enjoy visiting my class comic book. I give them full reign to explore whatever is pressing to them. My class gave me the nickname of professor doom which you may see referenced from time to time.
