alt/image/mouseover text too small

Postby Zohar » Fri Oct 17, 2014 1:47 pm UTC

My laptop is connected to a TV, so the display is fairly far away from me. I use about 150-175% zoom on most websites. I use Chrome. However, the font size settings and the zoom settings don't affect alt-text or image text or however you call it - what appears when you place the cursor on an xkcd comic, for instance. So the text is very small, and I really have to strain my eyes to be able to read.

Does anyone know how I can make this text bigger? Is it a browser setting? Is it a windows setting? I'm using Windows 8.

You could decrease the display resolution, causing everything to increase in size. Windows also has a magnifier in their Ease of Access programs.

Yes. And if wishes were horses, wishing wells would fill up very quickly with drowned horses.

I'm pretty sure there's no way within Chrome to make it bigger. Decreasing your resolution is the only way to do it.

Or find (or write) an extension that extracts the title text (hover text like that is actually the value of the "title" attribute on an element) and puts it into the page at whatever size you want. I use one of these, for example, for Dinosaur Comics, because it extracts all three of the hidden jokes from the page for me.
