You mean it isn't? Just kidding. On a similar note:

People who think that all rap/hip-hop music Should Be full of references to how much money you have/how many women you've had sex with/how many people you've killed etc

Anytime anyone says something along the lines of 'Gansta-Rap, Yo!' I get an urge to hit them in the face.

When I said 'private schools' I meant the places where you have to pay to go to them (hence the annoying assumption that everyone there is absurdly rich). The whole public/private schools terminology and the differences in what they're called in the UK and US always confused me I admit.

Is it the lack of capital "I" that's getting you? If so, it was four times. Or fourice, if you will.

This one is for mah homie (like roomie, but a home. Not whatever the seventeen hells "gangstas" are talking about) Tara.

Misconception: Cool scars have cool stories.

Tara has a scar from her navel to the transition to the pelvis. It is not from being mauled by a tiger, or something similar. We don't have tigers here. This annoys Tara, because it is obvious stupidity. Seriously people, it's a straight scar with geometric happy properties. Tiger or Surgeon?

Related misconception: the marks on my back are from a belt or whip.

No, they're stretch marks from one of the times in puberty I grew too fast for my skin to keep up.

On the plus side, I surprised a pregnant friend of mine by being sympathetic about her stretch marks.

I figure a shark with surgical lasers would also at least have a mechanical arm to push the button.

For the sake of arguement let's say the arm is solar powered.

And for the purposes of this exercise I'll concede them the intelligence to both grasp the concept of the mechanical arm and the "frikkin' lazer".

It is interesting, but still quite contrived. Definitely only suitable for a Bond Villain Victory* (incidentally, Bond Villain Victory is so incredibly easy to accomplish in Alpha Centauri it's painful. Seriously, you never have to order a single unit by hand to do it.).

*A reference to someone making up a more difficult player-imposed challenge for the videogame Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri in which you must score a conquest victory by wiping every other player off of the map: by sinking their cities into the ocean. Due to the fact that they sometimes build pressure domes to defend themselves when this comes up, I personally allow for an all-naval task force to wipe out survivors.

This might be a pet-peeve of your's (i.e. really annoying) but I don't think it is a misconception. It's not standard usage but hard drives are a kind of memory. They are part of the memory heirarchy which gets larger, cheaper, and slower as you go up: registers, L1 cache, L2 cache, RAM, hard drive, network.

No, hard drives are secondary storage. All memory falls under primary storage. CDs, flash drives, floppy disks, and hard drives are all storage, and none of them are memory.

Whilst there might be some confusion over whether they got 200 GB of Networked or HDD space, it's unlikely to be 200 GB of RAM.

Misconception: Because I have two friends who happends to like the Lionking and collects items related to the movie I must love the movie too and be thrilled to hear you talk about your anthro self...

Seriously! Does people forget that people might have other interests than that movie? I love these specific friends because of their awsome intellect, one is very intrested in biology, just like me and the otherone in art and books just as I am. People who likes the Lionking that I meet through these friends always assume that I like the movie and seem to be unable to understand where I met them if I don't like the Lionking. There are other things in the world than disney-movies!
