It needed a joke or something, so I added a bunch of references to other comics and one thing that's not a reference.

That was worse only in the sense of image quality, and then only if you'd insist on missing the point.

My take on 1814:

Image

OTT-style redundant

Because I can never make up my mind how to make an xkcd comic slightly worse (again 1814):

Edit: I don't want to wait any longer, the place to do that is elsewhere. So I'll edit in my next XKCDSW based on 1822:

I can't agree--it is much worse. Very funny, too. :D

I have a friend a bit like this--gets mail in one town, at a Post Office Box, lives in another town. Getting the street address was, well, you'd have thought i was an ax murderer planning a tour. Or at least planning to give the address to an ax murderer. I have it, though, nice to be trusted.

I can remember when directions to my grandparents place would have been something like:

Take the gravel road north from Leiter, Wyoming. When you come to the wye, bear left. Go 24 miles until you come to the corrugated iron mailbox. Take the two-lane rut to the right until you come to a house. That's them.

(No house there anymore.) As it turned out, many years later, the gravel road did have a name (Passaic Road) but no one who lived on it knew what it was until I was around 18.

Well that is about as far away as you can get from anywhere and still be in the continental US

I wouldn't worry about that, since squirrels tend to use smell.

My own well of XKCDSW ideas seems to have run dry but I'd love to see today's (1839) scenario done with the various stock characters doing their thing as doctor.

Apparently no, I can't: I tried to edit the post to add the image as an attachment but I got an error message saying something to the effect that the file was a potential attack vector.

(Why do you ask? Is posting images as attachments perhaps a forum etiquette thing that I've missed?)

I don't know what tripped it up. Try looking at the file and taking out all of the ancillary chunks.

And yes, it is for this thread.
