Has anyone ever tried having a coat or pants repaired? I've gotten loose stitching resewn before at a dry cleaner, but they were usually amateurish. (It was ok because it was done on an interior tear, so nobody else knew.) If the coat was just functional, I'd just ignore it or fix it, but I'm quite fond of this coat. The coat fastener looks like the picture. The stitching blew, and the whole leather patch & hook ripped off sometime in the night.
I'm wondering what I should look for in a tailor, (or is it clothes alliteration?) Most of my google attempts bring up dry cleaners. Looking up yelp brings up wedding dresses and tuxedo repairs, which seems close enough.
My options are
A. Leave it as it is, nobody looks at your coat.
B. Buy a new coat.
C. Repair coat, and have it look worse.
D. Repair coat, and have it look like it used to.
I want D, but I'm afraid that C will result. B feels like a total waste of money. This makes A likely...at least until the next regional party. Stupid managers think your looks matters. The thing is, they're probably right.
