Does anyone have experience making fur suits?
making paws and tails are fun, but all my friends are begging me to make them a full fur suit.
I have no plans on making one anytime too soon, but i'm interested in knowing exactly how long it takes and how hard it is to do, and what the hardest piece to do is.

Also... what is(if there is any) the term for a half furry? I love paws and tails and ears, but i hate wearing a full suit.

Well...there is such a thing as a partial fursuit (which is generally everything but the body).

I have made paws before, but I have not successfully done anything else. I do know for a fact that the head is the most difficult part though.

http://www.matrices.net/fursuiting.asp Check this out as a good start.

How is RMFC? I've been wanting to go, so I can visit Denver friends, but I'd like to know if it's worth going for the con as well.

It's pretty normal con stuff. Game room, rooms devoted to all the major media (drawing/writing/music/suiting), plenty of events based on furry-related and general nerd-related crap, dealer room. Fair amount of autism. Fair amount of GWM yuppie syndrome. You'd probably enjoy it.

I'm not sure if it applies to a person who enjoys such things or just to the style ("basically human with animal tail/ear/characteristics"), but I believe nekomimi may be at least related to what you're looking for? Feel free to correct me if that's not really applicable, of course :)

so, general question for the lot of you: exactly at what point do you tell someone you are a furry, and how do you tell them?

I might leave it as a footnote on my deathbed confessional, considering the really upsetting glee my friends get from bashing furries.

Eh, it's not really a hug-worthy issue. I found acceptance in certain corners of the internets, and that's good enough for me!

I emotionally feel like I'm a cat, sometimes. I emotionally feel like I want to physically be a domestic house cat. I like fursuits and furry art. I sexually like fursuits and furry porn. I've never been to a con. I hope I can go to Anthrocon, this year. I would like to have RL furry interaction/socialization.

So, out of curiosity, what's everyone's fursona species (if you have one, of course)?
I tend to be either a blue feral dragon or an anthro cheetah, but the characters are unrelated.

Mine is the Felis catus. No specific colour, markings, or build.

I actually really like bears. they are these really powerful but amazingly intelligent and graceful animals, that don't really need to be aggressive to other animals to survive, they just subsist on strength of will and cunning alone.

although come to think of it, my body type doesn't really scream "bear" lol

Haven't been around these parts in quite a while, surprised and glad this thread is still active!

I'm a grey wolf, and I've never really felt like I could be any other species. Though I have roleplayed others and have many other characters.

As far as telling people I'm furry? I don't really ever go out of my way to say so. If someone asks I don't lie, and I don't really hide anything (my office has the Werewolf Calendar posted, for example), but I don't go around "coming out" to people. Though I also don't really associate with people who would think less of me as a result of my subculture, so YMMV. As an aside, it took many years for me to feel this way, starting from a lot of apprehension initially.

I wouldn't call myself a furry (yet), but I have been a fan of anthropomorphic animals since I picked up Redwall about six years ago.
While reading one book in particular, The Taggerung, I really wanted to jump into the story. When the author passed away I mostly forgot about it. But that wasn't the end!

Last week, Freiberg commented on dtilque's Freefall sig quote, so I followed the link and read the whole archive. My interest aroused, I meandered over to the Cross Time Cafe and read that archive. 21st Century Fox followed, and now I am on the lookout for more quality material.

What role does being furry play in your life?

I'd recommend Twokinds, Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures, and Meadowhawk (currently on hiatus). There's also Dragon City, a personal favorite of mine, but the art isn't as good, and some of the characters and plot are a little contrived.

Primarily, it affects what comics I'm more likely to give second chances to. Recently, I've started to try to draw things, and I've found that, due to having seen a lot of them, furry characters are much easier to draw.
Aside from the porn, that's pretty much it; I'm not much into fursuiting and I can't afford to go to cons.

Twokinds and Dan and Mab I've heard of already. What you said about dragon city can be said of 21st century fox, but I enjoyed that :)

My favourite Narnia book is The Horse and his Boy. Do you consider the Talking Animals furries?

For me, it affects what sort of art I seek out I suppose. It also gives me a *massive* social group, with plenty of awesome people that share at least some aspect of a common interest. Cons are amusing too, though at this point I'm usually there for the social aspect and to seek out new art.

I finished Twokinds yesterday. The art is excellent, though not exactly G-rated.

Are there 'official' subcategories of furries? I think there should be.

I think there's a bit of debate as to whether Twokinds is getting more or less risque as time goes on.

Subcategories I know of are avians and scalies for species, and yiffers for those in it for the porn. Oh, and bronies, whether they accept the fact that we're furries or not, are fans of anthropomorphic animals. There are probably more.
