Hey, abrenecki. Surprised to see such an old poster lives in Adelaide. I don't mean to cut you out, but if most of us can make Friday lunch I think that's the go. If your exam finishes early and you're feeling lucid feel free to catch us up if this goes ahead. I'll leave my number at the end of the thread.

I looked into it and Big Star has closed down, but we could meet by that fountain out front of the Adelaide Arcade. Does Friday at 12 noon suit you all? We can wait about until quarter past, and then head down for pizza. If you're all free for a couple of hours, I think we could head down to the museum at one and take amusing photos of each other juxtapositioned against the museum pieces. You know, or just sit around: whatever works.

My number, for the purposes of locating each other, is 0405 716 064. I'll probably edit it out after the event but feel free to use it before then.

I'm no longer able to come...work put me on a shift in the middle of friday, which isn't something they normally do.

Next time...

Hey. I'm in Adelaide too. I wandered in to look at photos from one of the US meetups. Pretty awesome that I ran into this thread while I was here. This coming friday sounds good. I've got my last exam on Thursday (Computer Architecture) so some friday fun would be good.

Hey viashino, you at Adelaide Uni? Computer Architecture sounds familiar, if you're at Adelaide, I took that course last year. That exam was, uh, fairly horrible! But hopefully the course has improved since then. Good luck!

Oooh, in which case, I or one of my friends, marked your CS1A exam, or will mark CS1B if you're in that instead. I'd be afraid if I were you :P.

Yeah, I'm at Adelaide. I'm in Fourth year of a double degree (Maths/CS with Teaching.) Comp Arch is my last CS subject. I doubt it's improved. Same lecturer and slides. At least the lectures aren't 4-6 on friday like they were last year. Are you doing Honours/Masters/PhD this year?

Honours in CS. Got my High Integrity Software Engineering exam tomorrow, which is my only exam for this semester, thank goodness. Yeah those 4-6 lectures really killed me. It ended up kinda 4-5ish then unibar :P.

Well, it looks as if this is still going ahead. Noon tomorrow, people, at the fountain out the front of Adelaide Arcade. I'll be easy to spot, I'll be the person looking around as if I'm expecting someone.

The meet-up went ahead, and we even collected a few extras who happened to lurk the page that day. Attending was Pez, TMT, Keeper, Nyssa, Scout, Moron, and the people whose names I can't remember. Here are the records of our frolicking.

The Museum entrance.

Immediately we spotted a helix fossil, and we tried to take it to Cinnabar Island to have it revived. Unfortunately, the Museum guards made us put it back.

I recall no such event taking place. Frankly, I think you've made the whole thing up.

Awesome, thanks for sharing the pics. Adelaide's a bit far for me. (Yeah I know, I went to an xkcd meetup in Germany last year, but that was a unique circumstance involving OTTers.) Haven't been there since I was 3, and that was in passing without really going to the city (or so I'm told). Plus I haven't really been up to travel of any sort in the last few months.

Besides that, I only noticed this thread by accident, so if there'd been a closer meetup, I probably would have missed it too.
