Thread Necromancy: Assassin Edition

Postby emlightened » Sun Jan 01, 2017 11:02 pm UTC

I thought this one up by accident, whilst trying to reply to another thread.

Each post, you gain as many points as minutes have passed since the last player posted. Double posts are ignored unless you gain more points in your newest posts than the one before it.

If you have posted immediately before and after someone's (sequence of) post(s), and someone else posts after you, then you have assassinated them. You steal half of the points of the person you assassinate (rounded up).

Simple! Post to gain points, sandwich someone to steal their points!

Go!

And, because I'm the first poster, I can get a point without risk of assassination!

556 points

+ 2017 points from assassinating somitomi, I think?

Do points gained from assassinating count towards the points you need to gain more than? (And I assume that you steal half their total score, not just the points gained in the posts you sandwiched?)

Only now that chridd has posted. If somitomi posted after you, then chridd posted, somi would have assassinated you instead.

Your assassination only counts once someone else (besides you and the 'victim') has posted after you, and the points are added on at that point, not retroactively, so it can never occur. (I think?)

Wait... so now if there's a sequence like ABABC (where A, B, and C are different users), did anyone assassinate anyone there? And ABAAC?

If I understand the rules correctly:

B would assassinate A after the sequence ABABC

A would assassinate B after the sequence ABAAC

In the sequence BCACABACACB, there are three assassinations. A assassinates C, A assassinates B, and C assassinates A.

Correct, correct, correct. The reason the rule was added was so going ABABABABABAB... didn't get A to have half/twice as many points as B when the streak ends.

Also, damn it! *ded*

Also also, could you make a secondary scoreboard for most recent and number of assassinations, please? (Or would you prefer to stick to one scoreboard per game?)

If I try to assassinate you, but then you post after me, then my attempt 'failed' and you then try to assassinate me. An attempt only succeeds once someone else (besides us two) posts after us, then the last person in the chain (in this case you) assassinates the person before (me).

So in the chain patzer, emlightened, somitomi, emlightened, emlightened, somitomi, Opipik, you assassinate me because you were the last one of the two of us in the chain before someone else posted.

After making this post, I won't have assassinated you until someone else posts after me. If it's you, then you may have assassinated me or not, and we have to wait again. If it's someone else, then I succeed.

Edit: Unless I get ninja'd, in which case nothing happens... :P

Not as far as I can tell.

Also, thanks for the scoreboard and the ability to make graphs.
