I don't understand how you can be so ardently against the right Honorable Senator ... he's just using a simple proof by contradiction.

1: Suppose that coal mines and factories are the cause of climate change.
2: Earth has coal mines and factories.
3: Earth and Mars have the same climate.
4: Mars does not have coal mines and factories.
X
There's a contradiction, see! if it were the case that coal mines and factories caused climate change then it must follow that any two planets with different quantities of coal mines and factories must have different climates as a result ... but Mars and Earth have the same climate!
Therefore, the initial supposition must be false.

(I can play the whole game as obsequiously obtuse with a dash of obstinance, if there are no objections ... I might object myself, actually, nevermind)

I've know people like JimsMaher before the game hasn't started yet, right? So I can call him by his nick, so I propose we do everything he says, lest we end up not doing anything at all because we'll spend all our time arguing with him.

So, this is a forum game where we talk about a forum game that is supposedly going to start in the future, right?

Just kidding, but seriously, this idea shows promise so I hope it doesn't get canceled.

Also:

14 players!

Whoa man! That's almost twice as many as I've ever had in any game I've modded, not only here but counting all other forum games on the internet over the years, so Djehutynakht's comments about expecting to having gotten more players got me by surprise XD

I think a few of that number were tempted over here from other forums because Dj originally posted it in the wrong section. Just goes to show, there are plenty of potential forum gamers that just never actually visit this part of the fora. Maybe we should adopt this as a recruitment technique? Or perhaps just go on conversion missions...

There are even MORE potential forum members just walking the everyday city streets! If we put up a flyer in a fairly large city, we would get SO MANY PLAYERS.

Not yet. I've been a little busy. I hope to crunch out the guide soon. Sorry for the delay all.

"Hang in there" ~ English language idiom, as early as circa 1970, derived from "Hang in there, Baby!" commonly utilized as a motivational poster, pre-internet. Imperative advice for patience or fortitude in the subject, i.e. the reader.

Wait, did you really think I didn't know what he meant when he said "hang in there"?

And if so, did you really think I hung myself too?

Hello All!

After a lengthy hiatus, I've tentatively resumed work on this game, which, with a little luck, I can relaunch shortly.

I have sent prompt pms to everyone who's already signed up to reconfirm their interest in the game.

In addition, if anyone else is interested in signing up, you may continue to do so.

Note: If the number of committed players gets, say, above 20, I may be able to re-structure the game to something very exciting.
_______________________________________________

To give some enticement, I give you the first part of the Background Guide, as well as a tentative list of roles (altered as necessary to adapt to number of players):

Background Guide:

History for the human race was achieved in the 21st century when finally, after decades of promise, dreaming, and hope, humans first set foot on the planet Mars. The names of those on the first expedition are now legendary: Yuri Laikov of Russia, Arvind Sarabhai of India, Wei An of China, Greta Müller of Europe, and Richard Chang of the US, expedition leader and first human to set foot on Mars. At the time of landing, the rover Opportunity was still active and greeted the explorers with glee (out of pure sentimentality, Opportunity, to this day, is still operational, though in retirement). The impact of this landing was huge on the world. After many years of conflict and problems, Mars represented something new. A new start. Getting away from the problems of Earth and on to expanding humanity. Funding for an international Martian colony became a key goal for the world.

The development of space programs became top priority for many countries. This led to some issues in places where safety wasn’t a key concern or funding wasn’t readily available. Many countries now either have their own space program (mostly wealthier/larger ones) or are partners in an international space agency (such as the newly created African General Space Agency). The proliferation of private space-related businesses also rapidly took off after plans for a colony were announced. Generally, a nation or organization’s influence in Martian affairs correlates to the extent of their space capabilities, with the “Original Space Five” space powers who participated in the first Mars landing at the top of the list. To centralize the new international focus on space, the United Nations Central Space Authority (UNCSA) was created, along with the powerful ‘Martian Council’, led by the Space 5, which would be put in charge of organizing and overseeing the international colony.

And so it was that the first Martian colony, Xique, was founded in the cliffs near one of the sides of the Vallis Marineris.

Position List:

1. Chancellor of Mars
2. Deputy Chancellor of Mars
3. Chief Delegate of Earth
4. Governor of Xique Colony
5. Governor of Mons Roverus Colony
6. Governor of Mahana Colony
7. Governor of Aelita Basse Colony
8. Chief Minister of Justice
9. Chief Minister of Economy and Commerce
10. Chief Minister of Colony Unit Technology and Terraforming (CUTT)
11. Chief Minister of Space Communications and Transport (SPACT)
12. Mayor of the City of Xique
13. Commandant of State Security (intelligence)
14. Director of Security Services (policing)
15. Director of Emergency Services

Don't worry, I am no fly.

I imagine Xique is like the capital of Mars, seeing as they have the only mayor on the board?

Xique is the capital, yes. The Mayor's jurisdiction would be specifically over the city part of the colony, whereas the Governor would have jurisdiction over the entire complex.

But if we lack enough people, I'll cut roles. That'll probably be one of the first, because of the overlap. I can also merge roles (such as Security and Emergency Services)

Please keep the abundance of new acronyms to a minimum. When possible, I'll be referring to most of these by sensible abbreviation or nicknames that fit their role. For example, UNCSA might be the Central Authority or just the UN. But I don't mean to hijack the terminology, just a consideration ... We shouldn't have memorize an unnecessarily obfuscated vocab list just to casually read all the posts, should we?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the hierarchy might look something like this:

CoM > DCoM > (( CMoJ ≈ CMoE&C ≈ CMoCUTT ≈ CMoSPACT ) =?= ( GoX ≈ GoMR ≈ GoM ≈ GoAB ))
GoX > MoX > CoInt > DoPol > DoES

The relevant sovereignty and rank questions could mostly be answered from whatever constitution(s) etc that Djehutynakht gives us, with the rest potentially being resolved in game. In fact that may be a good portion of the game if this is as political as it seems. For instance, in what instances do the G's have power over the CM's? Is DCoM a figure-head with no real power? Can CoInt boss around DoES, or the other way around? What happens when CMoSPACT intercepts a sext between MoX and CDoE? Does DoES report to MoX, DoX, CMoSPACT, or CoM? Or does DoES just do what needs to be done and do their reporting after DoES has done the necessary doing?
