Now I am not quite sure if windows XP stores its password hashes in md4 of LM hashes? XP password hashes are stored in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\SAM" right? I am quite sure the hashes are encoded and stored. What kind of algorithm do they use to encode the generated hash itself and store it in SAM file?
How to reverse engineer the SAM file to get the hash? I am not talking about obtaining the password. I just need the decryption of SAM file to obtain hash. (If anyone of you know please tell me.Reverse engineering part is not important. I just want to know the how the encrypt it in the SAM file)
Just for sake of curiosity. (If you think that I am something like a wanna be password cracker, I am not. If I had to do I could have easily used SAM dump. I just need to know the encryption and decryption algorithm of SAM.)
ATTENTION:I don't know why all the me's in my original post are replaced with HULK
Oh goddamit. Why are the ams and mes getting replaced with HULK

Mod madness. Every year around this time, the forum moderators go wild and abuse their powers in all sorts of fun ways, such as (in this case) using the forum's profanity filters to change the words you type. "I ' m" turns into HULK, for example.
