De gustibus, I suppose, but I would consider personal attacks against the candidates spouses to be beyond the pale. For example, the anti-Melania ad that Cruz's supporters ran was completely beyond the pale. But criticisms based on substance - like plagiarism accusations - seem entirely fair to me.
