Re: Hearthstone

Yes, absolutely! I compare it to the Arena top 100 list that gets posted every month. You need at least 30 completed Arena runs to qualify for that list, averaging about 10 games each to get the 7 wins required to make the cut. That's 10 games you need to play every day of that month! It doesn't mat...

Anyone else excited about the upcoming Arena-only cards? Some look like a lot of fun! Looking forward to playing with these whenever they get released. It'll be interesting to see the final versions as well (if any changes are necessary). https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/34009-nine-new-arena-o...

Re: Hearthstone

They succeeded with a bad deck. The "pros" can do pretty well with pretty low tier decks. Especially you measure success by "getting to legend" or somesuch. In reality getting to legend tends to be more of a time commitment than a skill/deck commitment (though clearly it can be ...

Re: Science-based what-if questions

We can't make it too small though - it is going to be absorbing material on its journey through the Earth, and any material it does absorb will slow it down equal to that material's momentum. So it's got to be big enough that it can actually have enough speed to reach the other side. And you do need...

Re: Penetrate Earth

Fire it at the ground at just over escape velocity, and it should exit the other side of the Earth going slightly slower, fulfilling your "through the Earth" requirement. There would be a colossal explosion for sure but I feel like the Earth would remain [largely] intact - since only a fr...

Isn't "luck" meaningless in a world where "blessed" has real meaning? If there's a God that blesses certain individuals, then (according to most doctrine) he decides the outcomes of all random chance anyway. "Luck" doesn't exist. There's just a spectrum of how "ble...

Re: Citizen's Wage

If you are talking 20% of the GDP, than you are talking $11,500 per person in the US. The bottom 20% of households (not individuals) in the US made an average of $13,000 in 2016, and the bottom 20% of black households averaged $7,500. Not only would every single one of those people make more money,...

It's not clear where you are getting the "one billion atoms" from, since an apple has a mass of around 100-200 g, which is something like 10 25 atoms. Rough estimate based on me containing something-trillion atoms and an apple being about 1/1000th my size. Dumb mistake on my part since I ...

The problem I see is that for essentials, like food, the prices can just freely rise to account for the higher spending power of people.
