Re: Woman thread - NO HOMERS CLUB

Careful what you wish for, Lutetium. :) I've spent most of my teenage and adult life fighting back the kudzu I call eyebrows. I finally gave up a few years ago and just decided to go all Brooke Shields. (Except the middle bit. I don't like the unibrow look, however well I could rock it if I wanted t...

...which goes quite nicely with several different shades of green. I suspect Lutetium was referring to a much more vivid red, given her propensity to bright hair colours. :) When I was (verrry briefly) blonde, I did find it harder to dress and do my makeup. Didn't help much that my eyebrows stayed j...

Re: Woman thread - NO HOMERS CLUB

There's red and there's red, though. Is your hair a lovely red-blonde, an elegant auburn, or an inyoface firetruck red? :D (Story time: while waiting for the bus earlier today, I was busy admiring a woman's long auburn hair and how well it complemented her brown shirt and trousers. I realised after ...

Re: Losing the pudge

When I found myself 20+ lbs overweight, it was (fortunately, I guess) because I had accrued some bad habits. One of those was relying on eating out for all my lunches at work. The other two were not enough exercise and too much starch. Different results come from doing things differently than you've...

Re: Pre-Language thought

Using a paperback dictionary to do translations is largely futile, if you're going for anything other than general meaning. The best translations start from intent, not definitions. A quick example from a translator I met once: the French phrase "bon Dieu" means "good God" in Eng...

I've never learned another language to the depth of my first (English). I did get to the point of conversing in class without having to think of the English sentence first, though, for at least a couple. For me, English sentences taste like breakfast cereal. Re: Woman thread - NO HOMERS CLUB

Being yelled at while at work, especially for things you didn't do, is a very normal reason for crying over "nothing" later in the day. You aren't allowed to yell back or react in any real way at work, so the hurt goes underground until you're in a safe place to work it out. In theory, you...

Re: My band (sort of)

I gave Trans-Neptunian Object a bit of a listen. Adding a vocal track would improve it, as most people lose interest in pure instrumentals after a while. (If there was a vocal track, it didn't record well.) I'm in a similar sort-of-band. Eight of us get together every month or two and bash out aroun...

The first couple of orgasms I had, I didn't know what they were. I just noticed that the good feeling wasn't feeling as much good anymore. (Me grammar good.) Joy of Tech, for one. I just went back to look at the newer strips and still find they're barely smile-worthy. I probably liked it a few years ago because it was one of the first decent geeky strips I'd found. Now it seems like the same jokes over and over, though the Mars Rover one got a chuckle,

Re: Woman thread - NO HOMERS CLUB

Last time I tracked my cycle, it varied from 29 to 41 days over the course of most of a year. I got annoyed and gave up. That was a long time ago, so I should probably try again and see if the girls have settled down any.
