Re: Random natterings
Haha, holy crap. I just came back from an the most comically awkward date. After trying to get anything resembling a conversation starting for about half an hour, I ran out of topics and didn't get much in terms of help carrying the conversation from my partner, so then we just looked at each other ...

On a completely unrelated matter, I've been taking dance classes. Never thought I'd say this, but dancing is quite a lot of fun :D Turns out that dancing is like a weird social parasite that latches onto your life, kills all your existing hobbies and relationships, and replaces them with dancing an...

The related content-suggestion type of functionality seems to frequently have the flaw that if you use it too often, you end up in a local minimum that is nearly impossible to escape from, basically rendering said functionality uselessly suggesting the same content. I'm looking at you Spotify and Yo...

Household fires can be really terrifying... We had one in the building I used to live in. It was pretty small, but still very distressing. Fires escalate quickly nowadays. It's mostly a materials thing . A senile neighbor a few floors downstairs started a fire a few years ago. They put it out befor...

Re: Post your boat race.
So I've never been very good at taking selfies. In 99 cases out of 100, my pictures don't turn out very good. Which was frustrating because the pictures turned out so much worse than what I see in my mirror. So I've done a bunch of research, and practiced a ton, and I think I'm beginning to see prog...

Yeah. It's a weird series like that.
I played Dark Souls 1 first. Took me 40 hours. I easily spent half those hours on the first 10% of the game, then another 10 hours on a hard boss toward the middle.

Only kinda of facetious suggestion: Try virtualizing it? Most VMs can run headless. Ended up doing that in order to speed up regression testing a system that tied into half the unix ecosystem (and consequently was a nightmare to up/downgrade), by creating a library of virtual system snapshots from b...

I haven't tried doing any configuration with mine yet. Thought I've only used it on a few games. And they worked just fine without any intervention on my part. But I do really like it. Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts
You can use it with any game, although you have to launch the game through steam to be able to configure it, which is pretty important since the controller caters to so many different types of games. For example of a wonky but usable case, I've used the Steam Controller to play Fallout 1, which I go...

It's a list of comic book films released after the 90s that were worse than, or comparable to Suicide Squad. Some MCU, some DC.

Re: Suicide Squad: You've gotta be Joker
Yeah. The first impressions I'd read were all super-negative, but then I went and watched the film with low expectations, and was positively surprised. Probably won't win any Oscars, but it wasn't bad, at least not by comic book adaptation standards.

Re: Independence Day 2: Must go fasterer
It felt sort of fast paced. You don't get the same sense of "oh crap" that you do at the beginning of the original. Maybe it's not something you can replicate, because it's expected, and making a bigger death star doesn't *actually* make it scarier, but I think it loses a lot of weight as...
