### Re: 8 identical weights

2. Put 3 on each side, and if they match, then you know the lighter weight is one of the remaining two. So weigh them, and the lighter one is the lighter one. you seem to be forgetting the possiblity that the 6 on the scale may not be match. you are using probability, not an exact method.I believe ...

### Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts (Random like the plague)

Scabs, Bruises, cuts, burns, and sprains are the story of my life. I needed 3 different bandages at work today. My ankel had a large gash on it that would not stop bleeding or close up for about two weeks. My body space awareness is severely terrible or I am careless of my physical health.

### Re: Evidence for Extra Dimensions?

Of course, the LHC can't produce BHs under standard theory, only non-standard variants (including brane theories where gravity leaks from our universe via compact dimensions), so if they are produced, their lifetimes may be a little longer & their temperatures may be a little cooler. But not by...

### Has anyone tried the 28 hour day?

The 28-hour day comic has always intrigued me. I am a little hesitant to try, but seeing how I am jobless and not going to school I could give it a try. The only down side besides the possible neurological damage I may cause myself, are the repercussions from my parents. Has anyone tried this or hav...

Well, the six flags post was back in August, but I just joined hence, just commenting. I live about 5 minutes away from six flags, but I havent gone in years. I would be willing to go if we could bring our caculators on the roller coasters and solve math equations.

### Another Cipher

I was reading a bunch of the ciphering threads and I found them fasinating, so I did a little research and came up with my own. I will try my best to present it. I am sure it will be easy to solve, but will give hints if needed. And I hope to come up with some more original ciphering techniques in t...

### Re: 2 puppies

I have no formal logic courses under my belt, so readng this discussion I had first assumed the answer to be 1/2. But thank you to everyone that has proven 1/3 to be the correct answer many times, you have upgraded my learning curve! if you had a 2 sided dice(sides labled 1,2,3,4) and roll it and as...

### Re: ITT: We make xkcd slightly worse.

Just a note; I recently mirrored all my comics here as a website, and provided FCN-style alternative links for all my entries. I'm not sure if attachments still disappear, but it's better to be on the safe side. I also modified some not-so-funny title texts, mostly for older comics. For the interes...

### Re: Tattoos? (Recently merged: "Nerdy Tattoo Idea")

If I wanted something like "love" as a tattoo, I'd consider a small version of the FFVIII logo (without the words/letters, of course). If you haven't played that game, you probably won't understand, but my point is that symbolism is everywhere, and if what matters is that the symbolism me...
