Re: Can Renesemee catch on?

Seeing as my surname is "Bond", all I can say is that I'm glad my parents didn't name me "James". I do occasionally get comments, but I've built up a few stock responses, and I quite like it really. . There are of course other famous "Bond"s; my dad shares his name with...

Re: 1952: "Backpack Decisions"

When I need a new one I just tend to go into the nearest shop and say "will this carry the things I need, is it a nice colour and is it cheap", because I'm useless at shopping. Although I do tend to look for the ones with a laptop-carrying compartment, even though mine is incredibly heavy ...

Re: 1190: "Time"

this post triggered a new page... No decree for us? Unless the decree is to mention something you did that had unintended consequences. Erm... yes, that will do that's what I meant... should I go and edit that into the top post? In other news, I have now reached NP 550, ~20.9%. Woohoo, I've read 1/...

Oh, right, didn't realise that was still happening (it didn't last page)...
I'll come up with one in the morning.

Re: 1190: "Time"

Randallspeed my friend, I have decided to resume my blitz at NP 500, rereading the last few hundred pages from my previous attempt. This will allow us to encourage and support each other in our journey through the vast reaches of the thread. Sounds good! :D Tonight I made the push to reach NP 500 (...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I feel it is Time for another report. I began composing one last night, but I am glad I did not post it, for significant markers have been passed since. I have now reached NewPage 455, 3 Newpix into the new Eon. This equates to 17.3% of the thread as it stands. (The original post would have declared...

This is pretty good, although all I can think of when I see the comic is this video:

Re: 1190: "Time"

I feel I should take this opportunity to report on my progress to the present. Since my last post here in December, I haven't really read much further. However, since exams are complete and work is non-extant for the next 2 weeks, and coastal Wales in January features weather dismal, I should be abl...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

I can't see how a diversion route from the M4 Eastbound would take you there. Motorway closed > forced to take exit > sat-nav re-routes down inappropriate road. Happens all the fucking time. We get a ton of complaints every time we close a road because suddenly there's a load of heavy traffic going...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

Nice Welsh-ing! I did have to google the latter ones, but I knew the first handful just from living/studying at Swansea University since September. I guess the acronym for HGV isn't used in Welsh though. And no, there weren't any ysgolion nearby, nor anything really apart from a couple of tai and lo...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

Aldi lorry blocked lane in Clydach near Swansea This sounds pretty mundane, but have a look at where it got itself on Google maps . Zoom in where Mynydd Gelli Wastad Road meets Heol Dywyll, roughly in the middle, and look at the street view. Why? What on earth did the driver think they were doing? ...

Re: 1943: "Universal Dreams"

I don't think I've had any of the dreams mentioned in the comic, but then I'm very good at forgetting them in general. That said, last night I did go back to school, but as "current me" rather than as a pupil. It made sense as I was the assistant theatre techie, so I was probably going to ...

Excellent! And also completely random; where did he even find that?

Although it's a month old, I still like this one: Man 'cements microwave to head' in Wolverhampton. Don't worry, he was fine somehow, but it took a few hours to get him out. It certainly raises more questions than answers though.

Re: 1937: "IATA Airport Abbreviations"

Tacking on to this, while LHR (London Heathrow) is the airport //most// people would fly into to get to London, there are two other airports serving the area as well: LGW (London Gatwick) and LCA (London City Airport). It’s even worse than that - there’s also London Stansted (STN, more truthfully c...

Welcome to the thread! Thanks! I'm now 8.5% of the way through, safely past the first Madness. Occasionally I think how long a task this will be, and then I just think: Who cares. Let's just do it anyway. And, therefore, not do any revision for Uni. Hmm. May need to sort that out at some point... H...

I guess I should introduce myself briefly here, too. Although I'm 4.75 years late to the party, I have essentially signed up to this forum just for this thread. Since discovering it on Wednesday evening, I am already at ~p.60 (which is still only 2.3%, I know). As I didn't actually start reading xkc...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

I guess I should start here, then. Good morning/afternoon/evening, all! I'm a brit, currently in my 1st year of studying Civil Engineering at Swansea University, Wales. Back in 2013, I was given What if for Christmas. I read it quite a lot, it became an excellent bedside book I could dip into for on...
