Re: Minecraft

Hey everyone, sorry for the slightly 'noob-ish' question! I was just wondering if anyone could offer a bit of advice about setting up a Minecraft server? I'm afraid I don't really have any experience with it! I've been considering going down this route mainly to serve a core group of my friends and ...

Re: Deutschland 83

Couldn't agree more, I thoroughly enjoyed it, it has such a gripping atmosphere to it somehow.
Also, very good news here: http://deadline.com/2016/10/deutschland-83-renewed-season-2-sundancetv-jonas-nay-1201836235/

It's a little long to wait, granted, but I'm really looking forward to it!

Re: Nintendo Topic

Maybe the kid grew up a couple years and traded it in towards a PS4 or something and didn't care about the personal information it had on it. That's the simplest and most likely explanation I'd say, so probably nothing to worry about on your end. That said, the shop/seller obviously should have che...

Re: Tonight's South Park...(Merged Scott Tenorman)

Oh right, south park's on again. I think it's weird that it only gets a few million viewers in the US; the immaturity and excessive profanity/gore have long gone while the social commentary has become excellent. It should be that one show you watch before bedtime and mandatory viewing in high schoo...

TEncoder is also very solid, in case you need any more recommendations. It's pretty versatile, will happily do audio as well, and supports multithreading. Can't go wrong!

Re: Recipe requests

Baked stuffed squash. I like to use acorn squash, one per person, or maybe 1/2 per person if the squash are huge. Stuff with cooked grains-rice, bulgar, barley, etc., mixed with sautéed mushrooms, onions, garlic and maybe chopped tomato. I sometimes add nuts and dried apricots. You can use whatever...

Re: Recipe requests

I have to admit, I'm not the greatest cook who ever walked the planet, so I thought I'd consult the culinary oracle here! A friend of mine is vegan, but as someone who tends to have meat and/or cheese in 99% of my main meals I'm at a bit of a loss for what to cook for them. Does anyone have any pref...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

While we're talking about Civ5... http://www.nerfnow.com/img/1620/2598.png Hahaha, pretty much how most of my diplomatic victories go down! Not to forget merely bribing city states... 'plata o plomo' as Escobar says in Narcos. That's something I hope they change in Civ 6 actually, by the late game ...

Re: Do you enjoy car chase scenes in movies?

I think for me it really depends on the context of the chase. As in, if the plot has built a backdrop of genuine tension for the car chase then it's great, as opposed to just basically doing it for the sake of it. The original Bourne trilogy did that really well.

Re: Mobile Game Concept: AdventurerDiscoverer

It could be cool but, as others have said, only as a mechanic within a wider game concept. Other issue is, if you don't have a car or bike, like me, aren't you basically doomed from the start? In terms of competition I mean...

Re: Use of "who" referring to inanimate objects.

I've never come across it in the UK, but on a tangential note I like to respond to people who misspell "queue" as "que" by replacing it with "what", e.g. "I was standing in the que". "You were standing in the what?" Petty and childish, I know, but i...

Re: Why are some linguistic patterns irritating?

Generally, as OP said, I usually try to keep in mind that language is constantly evolving and that the concept of the 'correct' use of language is shaky at best. That said, there is one expression that does get my goat, but only because it expresses the exact opposite of what the speaker means: &quo...

Re: Board games anyone?

Being codemaster can be really difficult, definitely, but that's my favorite part I think! It's also so interesting to see who gels well as a team, sometimes you think you know someone really well, but discover you have entirely different thought processes. That's the thing for me, I love trying to ...

Re: Board games anyone?

Has anyone played Codenames before? Essentially you have a grid of cards with words on the underside (supposed to be the codenames of spies) - the object is for you to give clues to your team to guess each card until you complete your set. It's really fun getting creative with your clues, and a real...
