Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

That would impact the part value but I don't think fabric is typically worth salvaging when scrapping a car. The big scrap value of a car is all the metal and that isn't going to change very much without the car becoming something that can no longer accurately be described as a car. The problem wit...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

If anything, countries try to restrict the import of very old cars, because that is often waste dumping in disguise. Is that really an issue? I would have thought the scrap value of cars would prevent something like that from being a problem. Not all of the car has value as scrap (such as worn and ...

I want us to take in more refugees/immigrants, but I also want the ability to boot out anyone at the first sign of trouble. I'm not sure that this is such a radical position. What's wrong with treating them the same way we treat natural-born citizens who cause "trouble"? Pretty much this....

Re: British EU referendum in June [update: Leave wins 52% - 48%, politics ensue]

For example, it's bizarre that anyone would ever think that the self-proclaimed 'master of the deal' Trump would pass up an opportunity to screw over an opponent in trade negotiations... Could he sell that to the audience though? My impression is that Americans, on average, are extremely favourably...

Agree - it's about creating fear, and while a distant event is shocking, it also happens in New York, where you're not, and it's easy to not refer to it as something that happened somewhere else. A runaway van or a mass shooting is something that can, and does, happen anywhere. It creates a lot mor...

Terrorism isn't about mass casualties. Frankly casualties aren't about casualties. It's about behavior modification. Whether it's terrorism, war, police brutality, what-have-you, the objective isn't to bury bodies, it's to change someone's behavior, whether it's those immediately related to people y...

My groups tend to have half the group have some sort of 'life happening' (job changes, schedule shifts, moving out of state or to another part of the same state, having kids, etc.) that kills the campaign before we could even be said to be halfway in to it.
