Two solutions:
1. Use your distribution's package manager and avoid the crazy dependency games of PIP/Pear/Packagist/NPM/RubyGems/CPAN or whatever.
2. Stick with Bash and AWK scripts or use a compiled language.

Python: just say no.

About those faults in the potato-chip-bag category: What's up with the manufacturers of cereals, crackers, granola bars, and the like? It happens way too often that the seams are way too strong, that the bag breaks well before the seam comes unseamed. Macbeth unseamed Macdonwald from nave to chops. ...

Note that I did not request that you do anything to maintain the app. What I wanted to know is what is happening on the server side. There was a protocol that everyone knew about, even if it was not explicitly specified in all of its details. Two salient points: the FAQ page shows URL's for the JSON...

xkcd.com redirects to https; maybe breaks Android app

The handy xkcdViewer app that I use on Android quit working last week. I see that a bug report was filed for this (https://github.com/tcoxon/XkcdViewer/issues/70). What this told me is that there must have been a change in the wire format. I must confess that at this point I have neither investigate...

It is I who thinks that the impertenent boy should be left dangling on the ceiling. Then there is my favorite exchange in all of television: Sir Humphrey: The identity of the official whose alleged responsibility for this hypothetical oversight has been the subject of recent discussion is not shroud...

Re: 1770: "UI Change"

I'm not sure that a lot of these UI changes are so arbitrary. For me, the high point in the Android UI was Jellybean. Since then, the Google UI people have been intent on hiding details. In the Jellybean notification bar, helpful colored arrows indicated when data was coming in or going out. In newe...

As to the lateness in the literature in drawing a connection between smoking and lung cancer, I present a source from more than four hundred years ago. While his understanding of physiology was still stuck in the framework of the four humours, King James I was very emphatic* in pointing out that smo...

Yes, I'm another one who loved the analysis but hated the Latin. I registered so that I could take the role of the centurion. "People called Romanes, they go, the house". You have to get the endings right. You were thinking of being cute with the phrase " quis custodiet ipsos custodes...
