An attempt to carefully re-explain my analysis and why your move is invalid, which somehow ends up being even more inscrutable.

Re: Generic Game

This post complains about how all the off-topic and meta content makes it difficult to tell what is happening in the game itself. It carefully analyzes all the game-related content in the past 5 pages to infer what the current state of play is, and tentatively makes a move in accordance with that an...

Patashu: The questions that you discuss in your comment are similar to what I cover in my blog post. As PsiSquared points out, representing huge numbers in a form like "Ae(Be(CeD))" is inefficient: As soon as you have an expression of the form Ae(BeC), since the exponent BeC does not give ...

Re: Could there still be new hat puzzles?

A deliberately obfuscated strategy: Each player assigns to all other players a 3-bit code, so that going around in clockwise order from the player just after them the codes are 111, 101, 001, 010, 100, and 011. The player then computes the bitwise XOR of the codes of all the players that are wearing...

It's been a long time since I was active here, but I want to show you something I wrote. It's about a system for describing large numbers with precision, somewhat akin to scientific notation but extending to numbers in at the ordinal function regime. My preferred approach: Definition: A number p is prime if and only if for any finite sequence of numbers a 0 , a 1 ..., a n-1 , if p divides the product a 0 ...a n-1 , then p divides one of the terms a i for some i<n. Theorem: 1 is not prime. Proof: Check the definition for n=0. Exercise: Is 0 prime?

First of all, the binding energy of a nucleus can take away as much as 0.9% of its mass (in the case of Fe-56). However, these tests of the equivalence principle have been done with a precision of about 10^10. This makes any conspiracy where electrons and protons have gravitational masses deviating ...

Actually, the largest number tends to vary from day to day. Since people started measuring it in 1856, the largest it ever got was 274087721634.46 in August 1920, though geological data hints that there was a short period 34 million years ago where it reached about 1 trillion.
