Re: disproof of boltzman brain?

@OP: ⋅ We're not because we assume a priori we're not. If we live in a real universe, we benefit from acting like we live in a real universe. If we're Boltzmann brains we can't benefit from believing that fact. Therefore believing the universe is real is strictly better than not believing ...

Re: Biology: Wolves vs. Humans

I'd say the situation needs to be specified more. Both wolves and humans are thinking animals and need a reason to fight. Humans are planners and so will plan if they have any foreknowledge, or may even have taken precautions without being aware of the specific threat. So questions: Is it daytime? H...

But Avogadro's constant is silly because it does not relate two units, just one: the mole. So instead of defining everything in terms of the second and physical constants, we define almost everything in terms of the second and constants and one thing as an integer. Avogadro's constant is not an int...

The prions are more resilient than anything you'd recognize as beef. To simplify, beef is made mostly of protein and is no longer beef after you destroy a major fraction of the proteins. Prions are also proteins, and to destroy an infectious agent you want to destroy basically all of the proteins. N...
