Re: Deadpool 2

Since you’re violating High Culture rule #3, we’ll start. Ryan Reynolds is directly responsible for the death of a black woman by knowingly forcing her to perform a stunt she stated she was not comfortable performing. Do you actually have evidence/a citation for this? Because it's a pretty big deal...

the youtube channel WiseCrack has a pretty great analysis of it in their Earthling Cinemas series. It's got kind of a weird gimmick, and I can't remember if Wise Crack is one word or two. It's been a while since I've seen the movie. It also feels like it's been a while since the Coen brothers had a...

The more time goes by the more I dislike how emotionally manipulative this movie is. Someone at Pixar said "We need everyone to cry at the end, no matter how in-line with the rest of the film it is" and they decided to go with what they did. It's some Lars Von Trier-level bullshit. You mu...

Problems I had with the film: 1. Flying magical jedi space jesus. 2. That the above is Leia. This was literally the strangest, dumbest thing they could have done. The entire sequence was unnecessary, sets up nothing, and was freaking strange. ...holy mother of God. I was done with this at 1, then 2...

I thought it was pretty good, though maybe a bit too insular. Maybe Episode IX will be different on that score.

I think the length had to do with the box office problems. All the theaters around here only had a ~8 pm showing instead of the standard 7 and 9 showings due to length. This hurts. They try throwing an earlier showing but it tends to be before people are out of work so you don't get many people sho...

Trump is going to be president for the next three years. It sucks, but that's the way it is. BoJo and Moggy. Two names off the top of my head who have a modicum of charisma. The Tories expected a big majority at the start. That was because they had yet to reveal their utterly cancerous manifesto. If they had just shut up and stuck to platitudes like "Brexit means Brexit", and kep...

I'm talking about rational self-interest, which has nothing to do with optimism or naivete. If saner heads prevail, then they will negotiate in good faith.
