Re: Words that you are sure exist, but can't find

But we often need to specify "the last x BEFORE y happens". This isn't exactly the answer you're probably looking for (I take it you want a noun?), but "penultimate" and "antepenultimate" are related to what you're talking about and might point someone more knowledgeab...

Re: Top 10 Artists

My top ten (no order): Straylight Run Jimmy Eat World Anberlin Acceptance Making April Mayday Parade The Morning Of Quietdrive Rookie of the Year The Summer Obsession For me, the only criterion for this list was that the artist had produced an album that, as a whole, truly moved me, made me think, a...

Re: Religion

In general, I trust science to scientists. If any answer science has for something contradicts some idea I have, well, then, I guess I’m just going to have to rethink that idea, don’t ya think? Here's another misconception: It is okay to just pick an answer to whatever question you might ask if non...

Re: Religion

theonlyjett - very well put. You've clearly highlighted all your main points and explained them well. Nicely done.

I'd like to reinsert myself into the conversation, but as yet I don't have anything to say other than the above.

Re: Religion

I would never say that, in math, the equation of 2+2=5 is true, but when I'm not in the classroom, or work, or wherever I use good math, sometimes the circumstances and interpretations of the equation can get muddled. It's not a true equation anymore, but it may be worded similarly, and then I have...

Re: Religion

God knows what will happen, but His knowledge doesn't affect your decisions. If it's any easier to visualize, imagine someone you know really well---someone you've known for a long time and whose ways of thinking you can clearly understand. You can very likely predict how they will react to a speci...

Re: Religion

Well, now we're back to the evidence of the supernatural topic. There is no "enough." If someone is in a place where he feels the need to believe in something bigger than themselves, but are still completely anti-Christian god, then the FSM words will cause them to say, "that's it, I...

Re: Religion

[quote="oxoiron]We already discussed this, too. Your argument is always the same. Somehow you just "know" that God gave us free will and that He exists and that He created the universe. MJ's argument is valid. If God knows what everyone will do before they do it, they are not really c...
