Man, it's been a long time since I've been on the fora, but I've been watching the DF dev cycle for a year. Now that DF 2010 is out, I'm not going to get anything accomplished this weekend.
Cheers to Dwarf Fortress players everywhere.

Re: Unauthorized access attempts
This actually happened to me awhile ago. I was reading the forums and found that when I clicked orange "read latest posts" button, it wouldn't take me to where I left off. Then I found that there were people in my foe list whom I had not foed. I contacted Belial about it, and I changed my ...

It's not a pandemic. It's nowhere near a pandemic. According to the WHO, it actually is near a pandemic. Keep in mind that "pandemic" may not mean what you think it means. It probably does mean what the WHO thinks it means, however. If I recall, the word-for-word phrasing was: "Level...

I have a similar problem to what others have encountered in this thread. I have two hard drives and a CD/DVD ROM drive. Any two of the above can be seen in "My Computer", but not all three. So right now I have the boot disk and the cd drive as master and slave respectively on one cable. An...

Java installed and enabled, but won't run
I want to play the falling sand game [link] but all I see is a blank area where the game should be. Something's wrong with Java. Fine. I install all the latest java again (which uninstalls the old version and installs the new one), enable Java in Firefox and check again. Nothing. I go to the Java co...

Yes. Battle Champs is all about demoing potential framerate improvements. But DF does way more simulation than tile printing.

I ran the optimized OpenGL for Battle Champs in the dev log, and I was getting 10000FPS fullscreen.
ToadyOne will be rereleasing 40d with the optimized code implemented in DF.

Are you sure this is what happened? I don't think the game is coded for this. (If the water was coming from the ponds it would quickly have been exhausted anyway) Trust me. Water was leaking out of the puddingstone. Very slowly I might add, it was more of a seeping, but there was water coming out o...

I embarked on a great map: magma pipe AND magma pool, a river, plenty of ponds and more trees than I knew what to do with. I decided to bring the magma closer to my workshops area for the forges, but I dug the tunnel through puddingstone, which was dampened by the ponds above. And there were pudding...

Avoiding Infinite #include Recursion
Let's say I have two classes: Foo and Bar. Since they both communicate with, and depend on each other (but not inherit), I need to mutually include them. Say that these are two unrelated classes, except that they each contain a pointer to an object of the other class, like this: #include "Foo.h...

The card is fine, but I'm sending it back. After some detailed inspection, and more testing, I caught the reflection of a spark behind the motherboard. Also, the sound of a spark inside the power supply. Put the old card back in, and everything works normally. This leaves me with two, equally dishea...
