More importantly, the library has an agreement with whoever holds the right to a work. And several countries have stuff like public lending rights where authors receive additional pay based on, for example, how many copies the library has and how often they are borrowed.

Re: SOPA talk, yo.

I'm having a hard time at the moment morally distinguishing between piracy and a public library. I know I've never bought a book without first reading it unless it was both really cheap and highly recommended. How is pirating a movie not unlike borrowing it from the library? You get to watch the mo...

Re: Hippo's Thrice-Damned Chili

I mostly forego using dried chili at all and instead replace it with either fresh chopped chili or sambal oelek. But I suppose that's partly because I often forget to replace the red pepper flakes or chili powder when it runs out. The chili I usually make: about 2 kg of chuck roll (I think, the tran...

Yup, mozzarella was reasonably easy. It was a bit tricky to shape it into a ball at the end because it was so hot and I didn't have gloves, but it worked with some cold water and a bit of pain. :P But the consistency didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped. It became firm rather than stretchy, an...

You ignored the 'submit to their authority' part. You missed the "or" part. Read the sentence again. And considering that you're the one bringing it up in the first place, you really should know this. It says: "Surrender: Verb: Cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to t...

If medical resources were infinite, then I would agree with you. I don't want to deny treatment as a form of punishment. You can most likely make jam out of it. Or just rhubarb pie as it is. This recipe for rhubarb bread is supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it yet personally.

And I can definitely recommend rhubarb cordial.
