Re: Keith Olbermann abruptly let go from MSNBC

Ehh. Olbermann twisted facts and left out important information. The job of a journalist is to present the full story, and he didn't do that. He's not as bad as O'Reilly, Beck, or a lot of others, but there are a lot better places to look for news and opinion. I would like to know WHY he was fired? ...

Re: Army's 'Spiritual Fitness' Test Angers Some Soldiers

I had the same thought when I read the title: for me, there are three parts to the self, mind, body, and spirit. Spiritual strength, from an atheistic perspective would be a combination of an ability to organize emotions well, determination, knowing how and when to stand up for oneself and how and w...

@PhatPhungus: Criminals know how to use guns? So, drive bys hitting innocent targets really far away is because criminals are 'decent shots', right? I think the difficulty of use of a gun is largely irrelevant, because criminals who use guns generally already know how to use them. I wasn't trying to say that 30000 people died because guns are legal in the United States, what I was saying was that legal guns from the US make it a lot easier for drug cartels (who, along with all the other actors in the Mexican drug war, have killed 30000 people) to kill people. Certainly, it wo...

Re: Firearms

I find this relevant: Firearms are difficult, but not impossible to legally purchase in Mexico.[52] Drug cartels smuggle some through the U.S. or Guatemalan borders, or by sea, or steal some from the police or military.[53] Consequently, black market firearms are widely available. Many firearms are ...

I agree with the KrikkitWars. The US government needs to stop complaining so much. If they conduct secret ops and create a bevy of secret documents in a manner that can be leaked, when those things are eventually leaked, they deserve it. They had it coming, and its about time. Being able to use a conventional oven doesn't require military training, and neither does being able to use a gun effectively. I think it's important here to distinguish between different types of weapons. To take it to an extreme, there is no reason for rocket propelled grenades to be illegal. I don't rate my songs because the music I listen to is so mood dependent. Most of the time I know exactly what I want to listen to, so I listen to that. Occasionally I use shuffle, but if I don't like music, I don't keep it, so I'm really okay with any of the music that I have.
