Job opening: Deputy Director of Data for the Obama campaign

I work for the Obama campaign's data team in Iowa and we are looking to hire another Deputy Director of Data, starting immediately. It pays more than you need per month (+benefits) and accommodation is provided. You need to like the internet, Excel, and yes, people, but not necessarily in that order...

Re: Want to work for Obama?

Thanks man! I approve of labor protections and policy/legal expertise!

Anyway, I mean, we don't have timecards or something... Oh, and there's free healthcare!

Re: Want to work for Obama?

That's about what they pay, and free housing is significant payment in kind. We're not doing it for the money.

Want to work for Obama?

Hey guys, I'm the Deputy Director of Data for the Obama Campaign in Iowa. If you're interested in coming to Iowa to be a Field Organizer for the rest of the campaign, send me your resume. You'd be managing groups of volunteers, doing a lot of voter contact yourself, and reporting registrations and s...

Re: problem deriving a geometric formula

Thanks for the advice - from that I've managed to put together some steps worth putting in writing.

As a gesture of my appreciation, here's a picture of the figure that goes with the model you've helped me describe (though now I realized I re-used L differently...)

problem deriving a geometric formula

I'm working on my thesis and came across a math problem, so I thought I'd ask you guys. I attached my question in case you were just dying to do some basic geometry.

Re: Racist Republican is Racist

You could say that racism most narrowly means "decisions based on race." Does anyone use the word like that? Very rarely. So why would it mean that? Aren't words given meaning by how we use them? You could also say racism most narrowly means "presuming the superiority of a race."...

Racist Republican is Racist

It has been demonstrated that finches raised by foster parents of a different species of finch will later exhibit a lifelong sexual attraction toward the alien species. One wonders how a child’s sexual imprinting mechanism is affected by forcible racial integration and near continual exposure to me...

In a Computer Worm, a Possible Biblical Clue

The New York Times wrote:Deep inside the computer worm that some specialists suspect is aimed at slowing Iran’s race for a nuclear weapon lies what could be a fleeting reference to the Book of Esther, the Old Testament tale in which the Jews pre-empt a Persian plot to destroy them.

Re: Number Plates [Solutions]

Correct indeed, and v. nicely done. I've just been thrown by people getting it without seeming to get it... anyway. I guess Americans have a better shot at it, but I guess I thought geographical place names are general knowledge, as opposed to it having something to do with the way British license p...

Number Plates

This picture is the puzzle. The question is, what's missing? These are British license plates, but finding the answer has nothing to do with any kind of specialized British knowledge. Anyone in the world should have the same shot of getting the solution. You get no other information. Link to soluti...

Icelander’s Campaign Is a Joke, Until He’s Elected

A comedian in Iceland formed the "Best Party" last year as a joke. He's now mayor of Reykjavik. Among other things, he promised a "drug-free Parliament by 2020." To calm the fears of those who didn't vote for him he said, "no one has to be afraid of the Best Party, because i...

For the record, I am cute and do mock. But Rand Paul (the Ronpaul's aptly named son) is but an aspiring senator; hopefully he won't make it to DC.
